Punk Rock Weddings

Today, I wanted to talk about Punk Rock weddings, becuase I love them so much. Good Old Punks – they can take something meant to be sweet and princessy like a wedding and turn it into a fun day of raucous debauchery. That’s why we love ‘em so much. You can punk out any wedding with a few simple details, or throw a full-blown, show-no-mercy punk rock bash. I know which one I’d choose but some people like their punk a little more understated. Ergo, I throw out five ideas to punk out a wedding. 1. Tattoo Art LOVE LOVE LOVE invitations featuring old school tattoo art – cherubs and hearts and banners and flames and skulls and playing cards. Skull and Punk Rock Garters from Peterene designs

To garter or not to garter? It’s a bit of an odd question, really. The whole garter-tossing ceremony seems rather strange and outdated to me – which is why we didn’t partake of it. I wasn’t going to wear a garter, but my dress lady sent me one as a free gift – a gorgeous red and black lace garter with skull beads on it. So awesome. ALMOST as awesome as the amazing punk rock garters from Peterene Designs, makers of vintage and theme wedding garters and accessories. »View More  »View More

Wedding Skulls is now on Etsy!

Yaaarrrrr! I might have mentioned this before, but I thought I’d better do a whole post on the topic. Just in time for Etsy Day, Wedding Skulls now has an Etsy shop! You can buy both wedding planner ebooks there – as well as my writing ebooks, and copywriting / marketing writing packages for Etsy shops. But that’s not the best part. A good friend of mine – Amy Beales – has come on board as well. She’s selling her beautiful line of gothic clothing and accessories, including wedding garters, favor bags, rosaries, coats, corsets, bags and more. Every one of her creations is custom made to your exact measurements, so you can change the colours/fabrics if you desire.... »View More

I was going to leave this post for later on in the week but…I can’t. I’m too excited. Mr Longhead with Leaves and Beads, by Kerry Alice, $85 I met these lovely ladies through the craftster community. They go by the name of Twigs and Heather and Twigs and Heather Etsy. Kerry Alice and Heather are two kick ass punk rock twin sisters who create silver jewellery using casts of natural objects. She’s a Mod: shopping at Mod Cloth

My FIL talks about the old days, when he used to walk down the road to watch The Who, and he wore these horrible wing-tip shoes. According to him, you either liked The Who, and you were a Mod, or you liked The Rolling Stones, and you were a Rocker. And never the twain should meet. It was like emos and…non emos. I must confess that I’m not an expert on ‘Mod’ style, but I have a friend who wears these kind of clothes and she always looks FABULOUS. I’m emailing her right now to tell her about Mod Cloth. »View More  »View More

Favor Feb: Punk Rock DIY Candy Buffet

Argh, well, I suck. Second day into Favor Feb and I’m already behind on the posts. I WAS halfway through this post yesterday, but a power cut that destroyed half of Auckland city (my half) and a disasters with the wonderfully delightful ARC bus service left me rather annoyed and powerless and short on blogging time. Rest assured I shall make it up to you all today, perhaps with a wonderful BONUS post later on. Yaaay! »View More  »View More
